Our Daily Challenge
Friday 22nd May 2020 - Author challenge
This year, the Hay Festival is free for everyone to watch content online, including the Hay Festival Programme for Schools.: created especially for learning at home, bringing authors straight from their house to yours.
You can hear some of your favourite authors talking on the link above and there are activities to complete for each one. Your challenge today is to choose at least one author to watch and complete the activity. Maybe it will inspire you to pick up a new book or try a new author!
Send us your activities or pictures of you deep in a book at email@example.com, Happy reading!
Thursday 21st May 2020 - Building challenge
Hopefully you will be able to do today's challenge outside and enjoy the sunshine (don't forget your water and sun cream)! We would like you to build something; the more creative, the better!
For a maths challenge, why not measure the height of what you have built and see how tall you can get it?
Let us know how you get on at firstname.lastname@example.org !
Wednesday 20th May 2020 - Be kind to yourself
We should make time to be kind and look after ourselves every day. Your challenge today is to share how you are going to be kind to yourself. Perhaps you will spend some time doing your favourite thing. Maybe you could plan ahead using the link below for different things to do in the future.
One idea is to try some guided relaxation/meditation on these links and the ones at the bottom of this page:
Meditation for Schools
The Cosmic Kids Zen Den
Be kind and have a lovely day. We look forward to hearing from you at email@example.com
Tuesday 19th May 2020 - Postcard challenge
Continuing with our theme of kindness for Mental Health Awareness Week, today we would like you to write a postcard. This could be to somebody you live with to tell them how much you appreciate them, or to somebody you care about to tell them how much you miss them. You could write your postcard and safely post it to someone who is self-isolating to brighten their day or send it to a key worker to say thank you.
If you would like a template, please see the link below.
Take care and be kind!
Week beginning Monday 18th May 2020 - Miss Poyner's kindness challenge
This week is Mental Health Awareness Week (18th- 24th May) and the theme is kindness.
I like the quote, “Try to be a rainbow in someone else’s cloud.” (Maya Angelou)
Today (and for the rest of the week) we would like you to carry out acts of kindness to other people. It could make a real difference to someone in your family, a friend or a neighbour. Perhaps make a poster or a postcard, play quietly, help with chores or sing and dance to cheer people up. Take a photo or video (with permission!) and use the hashtags: #KindnessMatters #MentalHealthAwarenessWeek
Don’t forget to be kind to yourself too. Maybe watch your favourite film, get lost in a book or eat your favourite treat! One last thing- encourage your adults to be kind to themselves too!
We would love to see your acts of kindness throughout the week at firstname.lastname@example.org !
If you are stuck for ideas, have a look on Twinkl and on the file below.
