For a sustainable future for everyone...
Watch this space for information on what the Eco Squad have been up to.
Thanks to the hard work and effort of the Eco Squad, we achieved the Eco Schools Bronze Award.
The academic year beginning in 2020 has seen a number of things change in schools, but we remain committed to our eco goals and are working towards the Silver Award.
Goal - reduce waste, reuse and recycle
In autumn 2019 we began collecting our writing instruments for specialist recycling. Despite schools being shut to most children for half of the year, we filled 5 boxes and saved them from landfill or ending up in our oceans. A further ten big boxes full of crisp packets were recycled (about 5kg!!) as were many batteries. David Attenborough would be proud!
Goal - reduce litter in school and the local community
Afterschool club have taken on this role and have been keeping our school grounds tidy. Unfortunately, due to the pandemic, our community litter picks with The Pick-up Artists (part of the Great British Spring Clean) had to be postponed.
Goal - healthy living
As a school, we have embedded mindful practise into our daily life over the last couple or years. The children report that the mindfulness activities helps them feel calmer and more ready to learn. Post-covid, well being and mental health are increasingly important and we are extending what we do to support good health.
