Starting School

What time will my child’s school day be?

All pupils will start at 8.45am and finish at 3.15pm.

Children may ride their bike or scooter to school and these can be left in the area at the side of our Reception classrooms.  We will continue with our one-way system; the wearing of face coverings on school grounds is at your discretion.

What will my child wear for school?

All pupils will be expected to wear school uniform as normal. The only difference to this is that on the day that your child has PE we are asking that they come to school in their PE kit (proper school PE kit expected). PE days are as follows:

Year 1

Year 2

Year 3

Year 4

Year 5

Year 6

Miss McIntyre – Tuesday

Miss Poulsen - Friday

What will my child need for school?

We are continuing to limit the equipment that the children need to bring to school so they will only need a packed lunch (if provided by home), a water bottle (we are not able to offer these in school) and their book bag (Reception – Year 3) or a drawstring bag (Years 4 - 6).

When will break times and Lunchtimes be?

Primary schools will no longer be expected to keep pupils in bubbles. We have therefore organised the children into three ‘groups’. Reception will operate as one group, Years 1-3 as another and Years 4-6 as another. These children will have their break times and lunchtimes together as follows.

Start of day

Break time

End of day

As required

11.30am – 12.30pm

Years 1 - 3

10.15am – 10.35am

12.00pm – 1.00pm

Years 4 - 6

10.50am – 11.05am

12.30pm – 1.30pm

At lunchtime, children will eat in their classroom (apart from Reception and Year 1 who will use the dining room) and will then have 30 minutes outside.

What will my child eat?

Your child may either bring a packed lunch from home or order a hot meal. Our three-week menu will continue and meals are available to order via ParentPay. The meals are free for children in Reception, Years 1 and 2 as well as for children eligible for Free School Meals and will be charged at £2.34 for any other child who would like to order one. All children must bring their own water bottle to school as we are unable to offer these.

Is my child expected to attend every day?

Your child must come to school in September and the usual rules will apply, including:

  • We must record attendance and follow up any absences.
  • We will be able to fine children with poor attendance.

How will Before or After School care work?

Wrap around care will be offered from 7.45am – 8.45am and 3.15pm - 5.30pm.

Booking arrangements will operate as normal as the children will operate as one group.

Breakfast Club

This will operate from 7:45am. Children can be dropped at any point up to the start of the school day and will be taken to class at the appropriate time. The cost of this facility is £4.00 per day and there is no need to book (parents may make payments on the day or can pre-book a child). Children will be provided with a drink and a light snack.

After School Club

This will operate from 3.15pm until 5:30pm each day and the children will be provided with a drink and light snack. Session costs for After School Club are as follows:

Cost for late booking

Up to 30 minutes

Up to 1 hour

Up to 1.5 hours

Up to 2 hours

Up to 2.25 hours

How will the school promote safe and hygienic practices?

We will continue to reinforce good health and hygiene such as handwashing, tissue throwing away and toilet flushing. As a school we will:

  • Remind everyone to clean their hands on arrival, before and after eating, and after sneezing or coughing.
  • Help our classes to follow the rules on hand cleaning, not touching their faces, ‘catch it, bin it, kill it’ etc.
  • Keep our classroom door and windows open for fresh air.
  • Continue a cleaning plan that includes: more frequent cleaning of rooms; cleaning shared areas that are used by different groups; frequently touched surfaces being cleaned more often than normal; and cleaning toilets more regularly.
