PTFA Closure Statement
It is with heavy hearts that we share the decision to formally close the Comberton PTFA due to a continued lack of volunteers to take the vacant committee roles. This has not been an easy choice, and it comes only after much reflection and sincere effort to keep the PTA going.
For many years, the PTA has been more than an organisation — it has been a community of parents, teachers, and carers working together to support our children and enrich their school experience. From events and fundraisers such as Discos, Film Nights, Popcorn stalls, Preloved Uniform sales, Hot Dog stalls, Healthy Breakfast morning, Crazy Hair Days, Mothers Day Morning, Year 6 Leavers discos, Care boxes and the Panto Trip to quiet behind-the-scenes work, the dedication of our few volunteers has made a lasting difference in countless ways.
Unfortunately, without enough people able to step forward and help carry on this work, it is no longer possible to continue in a way that reflects the values and commitment the PTA has always stood for.
We would like to extend our deepest thanks to everyone who has given their time, energy, and care over the years. Your contributions — big and small — have meant so much to our school community.
Thank you for being part of this journey.
Kind regards,
PTFA Team
What is the PTFA?
The [Parent Teacher Friends Association] is an open community of parent volunteers working alongside the school/teachers/and other “friends” to benefit the school and ensure the best educational experience for all its pupils.
How does the PTFA benefit the school?
Parents and caregivers have a big impact on how well their children do at school. Taking an active role in your PTFA is one of the ways you can make a difference and get involved:
- We raise money to fund school initiatives through activities and events.
- We provide a social support network for parents.
- We provide a forum for parents to have a say.
- We provide volunteers and opportunities so that parents can support their child’s learning.
- Past Activities:
- Early Years Shed Appeal
- Valentines Disco
- Film Nights
- Uniform sale at Easter fayre
- Crazy Hair Day
- Year 6 Leavers Disco
- Aided grant application for Sensory Garden
- Summer fayre food stall
- New shed for Early Years
- First day drop in Coffee Morning
- Halloween Disco
- Christmas Film Night (Early Years)
- Christmas Raffle
- Mothers Day Cuppa & Craft

“How can my skills be useful?”
- Any parent can be a member, and every parent has skills to bring, from graphic design to gardening; from events management to balancing the books; and from wrapping up lucky dip gifts to handing out flyers!
- Could you help?
- What skills do you have that we may need?
- Some of our most active mums and dads work full-time, or have other commitments.
- If your child has younger siblings, the PTFA is a great way to familiarise them with their future school.
- We all have lives away from school, and it’s OK to say “no”
- Examples of how you can commit, either at an event or behind the scenes, include:
- sorting second hand uniform
- contribute to termly newsletter
- help with a particular event [summer fair / film nights]
- marketing
- grant application and bids
