What a wonderful turnout for our family Coronation picnic!  The school was decorated with bunting and artwork from our design a stamp artwork competition.  The children were given souvenir Coronation pencils and were joined by friends and family to celebrate this special and memorable event together over a picnic lunch.

Reading Challenge - April 23

Congratulations to the more than 100 children who participated in our reading challenge to read 3 books between world book day and Easter and be able to present these in a creative way.  The winners were selected at random and received a £10 book voucher.  Here are our proud winners:

Easter Fayre April 2023 - Thank you to everyone who supported our Easter Fayre. We raised £1300 for school funds!

Science Workshops - March 2023

'Hands On Science' delivered workshops to all the children from years 1-6.  The children astounded us with their subject knowledge and scientific vocabulary and loved bring their learning to life through practical exploration of scientific concepts.

World Book Day - March 2023

The children had a wonderful time celebrating world book day.  Our focus was reading for pleasure and the children came to school in their PJs or as their favourite book character.  We shared books with our peers across the ages and the children even voted for their own 'Golden Shelf' books.

Financial Workshops - Feb 2023

A huge thank you to the 4 members of the HSBC Team who delivered financial workshops across the school to all children in years 1-6 this week.  The children really enjoyed having these visitors in their classes and learning about maths in the real world!  We were then awarded us with the Smart Money award for our engagement with the HSBC Financial Education sessions.

Safer Internet Day – Tuesday 7th February 2022

To recognise National Safer Internet Day we held assemblies and many classroom learning opportunities to reinforce the message of staying safe online. Our Digital Leaders took a really active role in promoting awareness across school and delivered assemblies to all the classes.

Mental Health Week - Feb 2023

Children's Mental Health Week 2023 will took place from 6-12 February 2023.

This year's theme is Let’s Connect and  is about making meaningful connections. People thrive in communities and this connection is vital for our well-being. Having healthy connections – to family, friends and others – can support our mental health and sense of well-being.  We explored this both in class and through assemblies.

Wear it Red Day Feb 2023

Thank you to all of those that supported Wear it Red day for Midlands Air Ambulance.  The children enjoyed learning about how their fundraising would support the charity through an assembly, where we even had a recorded message from the air crew themselves. We raised over £300 for this life-saving service.

Special Visitor - Dec 2022

Santa Dash and Christmas Jumper Day - Dec 2022

The children looked just brilliant in their Christmas Jumpers today raising over £300 for Birmingham Children’s Hospital.

Our annual Santa Dash also took place this morning and many of you will have seen the sleigh and reindeer ready on the playground .  The children got active dashing around the playground singing along to Christmas music – great for building stamina!

Bedtime Stories - Nov 2022

Thank you to all the Reception children and parents/carers who joined us for bedtime stories.  We loved seeing the children all snuggled up in their pyjamas, enjoying hot chocolate and biscuits and listening to stories.

Kindness (Anti-bullying) Week - Nov 2022

We launched kindness week with Odd Socks Day on Monday and many children were keen to show off their flamboyant socks!  This sparked some really meaningful discussions around being unique and accepting and celebrating everyone’s differences.  I also saw year 4 really considering how they could compliment their friends individually through an activity in class. Super work everyone!

Remembrance - Nov 2022

The children have been thinking about remembrance this week both in class and in assemblies.
Thank you to our school councillors who have been selling Poppy merchandise every day.

Well done to Reception, Years 4 and 5 who have taken part in the Pin the Poppy appeal in conjunction with the Police.  They have created beautiful poppies made from the ends of plastic bottles and acrylic paint which will be pinned upon a steel cut out of soldier Tommy outside Kidderminster Police Station.  The Police made a visit to school this week to collect our poppies and talk to the children in assembly.

NSPCC Assemblies - Nov 2022

We have delivered NSPCC Assemblies in school this week as an opportunity for children to discuss how to keep themselves safe.  There have been some really meaningful discussions a result of this.

Hello Yellow - October 2022

We are delighted to announce that we raised £210.60 for MIND this week by taking part in Hello Yellow Day to raise awareness of Mental Health.  The children have explored this both in assemblies and in class and it was lovely to see a sea of sunshine yellow on Monday! It definitely brought a smile to all of our faces.

Presenting - Comberton's Golden Shelf! Sep 2022

The teachers at Comberton asked themselves "What books do we think our children need to read or have heard before they leave Comberton?" These are the books the staff have chosen. Our children will have the opportunity to read these books in school, in the library and also at home through Seesaw.

Our Tribute to the Queen - Sep 2022

We were very proud of all the children today.  They have spent time throughout the week, making flowers as a tribute to Her Majesty the Queen. We joined together on the playground as a whole school, with each child proudly holding their flower as we held a 1 minute silence.  We are now making a beautiful corridor display with the children’s flowers in order to show our respects and remember Her Majesty the Queen.
