Year 1 and 2
Welcome to Year 1 and 2
Welcome to Key Stage 1. We are really looking forward to all the great learning we will be doing this year!
We are lucky to have lots of staff working with us this year:

We have three classes in Key Stage 1:
Mrs Edward's Class (1SH) is a Year 1 class supported by Mrs Hull (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday) and Miss Hollick on Wednesdays. On Thursdays the class is taught by Mrs Hartley.
Mrs Waters' Class is a mixed class of Year 1 and Year 2 children supported by Mrs Bates. On Wednesdays the class is taught by Mrs Patel.
Mrs Heath's Class is Year 2 class supported by Mrs Dusconi. On Fridays the class is taught by Mrs Hartley.
We also have Miss Tilt supporting our team by offering speech and language support as well as Miss Bates who works with some children on individual targets.
PE Days
PE will be on Monday for Mrs Heath and Mrs Waters' classes.
PE will be on Thursday for Miss Haycocks' class.
Please come into school in your PE kit (a plain white top, plain blue/black shorts or joggers and a blue fleece). Earrings will need to be taped over or taken out for PE lessons. Please ensure if children wear lace-up trainers that they can do their own laces, otherwise velcro is preferable. Children will be required to take their own shoes and socks off and put them back on for our indoor lessons so please practise this with them if they are not yet independent with this skill.
Reading
Children will need their reading book in school everyday in the folder provided. Your child will read daily at school, either one-to-one or during their phonics sessions. Once children have read their books at least twice, the adults at school will change the individual reading books on Thursdays. Children are encouraged to read their book multiple times within the week to ensure a good level of fluency. We appreciate your support at home with this and each class has reward systems in place to support this. In addition to the reading scheme books, your child will also get a library book for you to share with them. Library books will be changed on Fridays so please ensure that these are returned. Overdue books and damaged books may incur charges.
Behaviour
At Comberton, we are always trying to show that we are READY, RESPECTFUL and SAFE which is how we reflect on our expected behaviours. Children should be ready to learn, respectful to all and act in a safe way at all times. We have lots to learn and we need to show good listening, determination, perseverance, tolerance, respect, collaboration and most importantly we need to take responsibility for our own learning.
If you have any questions for us, you can email us at year1@comberton.worcs.sch.uk (Mrs Edwards and Mrs Waters direct link) or year2@comberton.worcs.sch.uk (Mrs Heath direct link) and we’ll try our best to help.
