Home Learning

We have so far produced two home learning packs which we advised you make use of in a way which best suited you. We recognise that each household is completely different and so cannot emphasise enough that the priority for you and your family at this time is to stay safe, happy, and physically and mentally well, so that when the time comes, our children come back motivated and ready to learn. With this in mind, we’d like to outline the range of ways your child can engage in learning, as opposed to setting a single expectation for the way this is completed.

You may find that one, or a combination, of these ways of working suits you and your child. This is not a checklist of learning that should be worked through in its entirety, but a resource bank that should help your child engage in learning at home.

Finally, we’d like to remind you that we are still here and contactable each day Monday-Friday, so if you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to get in touch. You can call the school office or email office@comberton.worcs.sch.uk. Please also keep sending your photos and videos to getinvolved@comberton.worcs.sch.uk.

If you or your family require any further support or guidance at this time, information and contact details for wider local support is available at the following websites:

Daily lessons online

BBC Bitesize Daily Lessons:

From Monday 20th April, ‘BBC Bitesize Daily’ is providing English and Maths and foundation subject lessons every weekday, via their website and the BBC iPlayer, for year groups 1-10. Tasks set have explanatory videos and provide links to other sites where further activities can be accessed.

Online lesson content and activities can be found at https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/dailylessons

Three different 20 minute daily lessons for ages 5-7, 7-9 and 9-11 can be viewed each day from 9am at https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/articles/z6vpnrd

or via the red button/BBC iPlayer.

The Oak National Academy:

From Monday 20th April, another timetabled online teaching resource has been launched, ‘The Oak National Academy’. This has gives 3 lessons each day from Reception to Y6 in English, maths and another subject (which changes daily). Like the BBC, each lesson has video content alongside activities set.

Homework-style revision worksheets:

We recognise that stand-alone English and maths revision sheets are handy when printed and can usually be completed independently by your child.

We will continue to provide weekly packs of these. The next pack will be sent this Friday 24th April. If you are finding though that they cause frustration, or there is a disproportionate amount of teaching required by an adult, please don’t ‘flog’ these tasks to the point of despair!

However, if you find tasks like this work well for your child, there are many more you can find yourselves for free on sites such as Twinkl https://www.twinkl.co.uk/offer where you can enter the code CVDTWINKLHELPS to get free access.

Accessing online content:

The DfE has created a list of useful websites which can be found at

https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/coronavirus-covid-19-online-education-resources/coronavirus-covid-19-list-of-online-education-resources-for-home-education

Also, please continue to make use of websites which your child has a personalised login for, such as Numbots, TT Rockstars, Activelearn and Education City.

Use of the website/Facebook page:

Each weekday, a new challenge is posted on the ‘Get Involved’ page of our school website. These cover a range of curriculum areas and skills.

We will also continue to post links to other useful sites on this page of our website and on the school Facebook page. Please keep your eye on these!

We are delighted to welcome you to our class page and to your child's first year at school!  We have lots of exciting activities ready for this year and look forward to sharing your child's learning journey with you...

  • £1 snack money is due every Monday so please use the bag provided in your red book.
  • Please ensure that your child has their book bag in school every day.
  • Remember that your child is entitled to a hot dinner each day. They will just need to let us know whether they are hot dinners or sandwiches at registration.
