Welcome to Year 2
We have had a fantastic start to the term and thank you for being so ready to learn!
Mrs Heath, Miss Lewis, Mrs Dusconi, Miss Harris, Miss Hollick and Mrs Sandell will be supporting you every step of the way through your time in Year 2. Mrs Hartley will teach Mrs Heath's class on a Friday and Mr Price will teach in Miss Lewis' class on Thursday mornings. Take a look at the photos from the previous Year 2 children below and see some of the exciting things they experienced. We can't wait to add your photos on soon!
There will be a few things you will need to bring to school with you. Every day, bring your lunchbox (if you are not ordering a lunch), water bottle and book bag. Please do not bring any other items such as toys. If you know your child occasionally has toileting accidents, please send in a bag with some spare clothes and pants that can stay in school to cater for this.
Our PE day will be Monday and you will need to come to school wearing your school PE kit (white t-shirt, black or navy shorts/joggers and trainers) on this day each week. In cold weather make sure you wear your joggers and a fleece. Please remember to name all of your kit.
Just like in Year 1, reading is very important in Year 2. You will read regularly in school, as part of a group in guided reading and individually. We ask that adults at home hear you read at least 3 times every week and note this in your reading record so that you can earn rewards.
Our autumn term topic is ‘Space’. We will be finding out about the Moon Landing and the planets in our solar system. We will even train to be astronauts as part of our Space Camp day!
In Year 2 we have a class zone board. Everyone starts the day in the “green zone” and if you work really hard and show good choices you will be moved up to “silver” or “gold”. You will then be rewarded with a sticker. If you are making wrong choices, you will be given time to reflect and think about how you can make more appropriate choices.
If you have any questions for us you can email us at year2@comberton.worcs.sch.uk and we’ll try our best to answer them.
Thank you for taking the time to read our year group page.
