Welcome to Year 3
Hello from Miss Fairhurst and Mrs Hiorns
Firstly, we want to start by saying a big hello to everyone and hope that you are all safe and well. As you will already know, we are the Year 3 teachers and Mrs Mann, Mrs Crowley and Mrs Lewis will be our teaching assistants. We're very much looking forward to returning to school in September and getting to know you all better. We have been busy preparing our classroom and planning all of the exciting things that we will be learning.
We will be based in the Year 3 classroom and we will meet you on your first day outside this area. In the mornings, Year 3 children usually wait outside the exterior classroom door until the bell sounds and then walk sensibly in, ready to hang up your coat and bag
As we have a limited amount of space in the classroom with pegs inside the classroom, we would ask that you bring to school only your lunchbox, water bottle and book bag. Please do not bring any other bags or your PE kit.
In the autumn term we have lots of interesting topics to study. In history you will be learning all about The Early Britons and become archaeologists. For any budding scientists amongst you, we will start with biology topics where you will learn all about animals and humans. In PE, its Tag Rugby and Circuit training so lots of great teambuilding games and energetic fitness tasks to challenge yourself to beat your personal bests! In music we will be developing our understanding of different genres. In year 3 you begin learning an exciting new language – French! Bien! A new RE syllabus has just come out so watch this space! In English, we will write about A Stone Age Boy – what an adventure that is! In maths we start with place value and learning our times tables.
There will be a few things you will need to bring to school with you. Our PE day will be Thursday and you will come dressed in your PE kit on this day. You will also need to bring your packed lunch and your reading journal.
We expect you to read three times a week and ask that an adult signs to record that this has been completed. You will also need to play Numbots three times a week for your homework.
Mr Price will be joining our classes for one afternoon a week each to teach French and Music.
Lastly, we have high expectations for both attitudes to learning and behaviour. We will have interesting lessons and opportunities for you, so you need to always try your best and always be respectful and kind to others.
We're really looking forward to ‘getting back to normal’ in the autumn and can’t wait to hear everything you’ve been up during the summer holidays.
We think that covers it all, but if you have any questions for us you can email us at year3@comberton.worcs.sch.uk and we’ll try my best to answer them.
Have a lovely summer and see you in September!
